After checking in to the Mimosa Lodge 4*, hike out of town along the Cogmanskloof Trail. The 700-meter-high Cogmanskop offers stunning views of the town and the surrounding mountain ranges. The next 2 km are quite challenging, as it leads up the Corkscrew Trail. The reward is primarily the presence of the king proteas found here. The following section offers repeated beautiful views over the valley and is not called the Panorama Route for nothing. The descent leads back to the vehicle with a gentle gradient. The climate is harsher here, and snow can be found in the winter months of June to August.
