Originally founded to protect the Addo elephants, the park has been developed into the second largest in the country after the Kruger National Park. In addition to the pachyderms, you can also see zebras, lions, buffalo, ostriches, turtles, warthogs and blesbok. Then a 1.5-hour transfer to Humansdorp on the Garden Route. The first cycling stage takes you along a quiet back road on the edge of the Tsitsikamma mountain range. Overnight stay in a charming 3* lodge. (B)

Bus route 250 km, duration 3.5 h
Today's cycling route leads from the lodge into the Tsitsikamma National Park. A short hike to the 3 suspension bridges on the Storms River. Rock hyraxes can often be seen here. A short, steep climb back up to the coastal plateau. Descent into the Bloukrans jungle valley. There you can see the impressive Bloukrans Bridge from which you can do the world's highest bungee jump. A break is in Nature's Valley, one of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa. We head back up to the plateau, to the seaside resort of Keurboomstrand. Transfer to George, located at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains, to a cozy 4* guesthouse. (B)

You start directly at the guesthouse. The tour on the old Cape Road leads through fertile farmland, later to the Indian Ocean at Hartenbos. With a 7% gradient, the cycle route leads to the Robinson Pass (860 m), with beautiful views back to the coast. Within a few kilometers, the landscape changes from the evergreen coast to the dry expanse of the Little Karoo. The route to the ostrich town of Oudtshoorn leads past many ostrich and goat farms. You can admire the razor-sharp outlines of the 2000 m high Swartberg Mountains. The accommodation in Oudtshoorn is in a historic, stylish 4* guesthouse. (B,D)

An fruchtbaren Obst- und Weinfarmen vorbei führt die Route nach Ladismith, das von dem 2050 m hohen Towerkop überragt wird. Unterkunft ist in einem gemütlichen einfachen Gästehaus in der Ortsmitte. In the fruit town of Barrydale, we take a well-earned rest before heading up the Tradouw Pass (750 m) and then taking long descents to the wine town of Montagu. The hot springs that Montagu is known for are very close to a characterful 4* hotel in the 1950s style. If you want, you can take a tour of the town in an original Cadillac. A visit to the hot springs is also worthwhile - a treat for tired cyclist muscles! If you wish, the cycling route can be shortened to 76 km. (F)

The manor house, which is over 300 years old, is now a listed building. You then cross the 380 m high Helshoogte Pass into the green Jonkershoek Valley. Shortly afterwards you reach Stellenbosch. The second oldest city in the country has a large number of well-preserved historic buildings built in the Cape Dutch architectural style. After the return journey, the escort vehicle takes you to the heart of Cape Town, one of the most beautifully situated cities in the world. You will stay in a comfortable 4* hotel, not far from the sea. An exploratory tour on foot will introduce you to the main sights: Parade Square, Castle, City Hall, Greenmarket Square, Parliament Gardens, Museum of Natural History and Art History, and the Malay Quarter.
