Tour description
Welcome to the capital of Zambia! Many cultures and nationalities have come together in the metropolis over the past decade. Your tour guide will pick you up at the airport and take you to a nearby lodge. There you will have your first tour briefing and you can relax by the lodge's wonderful pool. (B,D)
Travel time approx. 0.5 h
Following the Great East Road, you will reach one of the most breathtaking game reserves in the world, the South Luangwa National Park, in the afternoon. The concentration of wildlife around the Luangwa River with its lagoons and treeless plains is one of the highest in all of Africa and is home to elephants, giraffes, leopards, buffalo, zebras, crocodiles, hippos and many more. Huge colonies of scarlet bee-eaters spend the winter on the sandy steep banks of the river. A walking safari is still the best way to get to know this wild and untouched nature, alongside traditional game drives. You will go on several game drives during the day and at night, when the chances of spotting a leopard are particularly high. You will spend 3 days in the area of the South Luangwa National Park and the adjacent, particularly attractive Nsefu sector, where wild dogs and herds of buffalo are often found - enough time to discover the diverse wildlife on the scenic, wild Luangwa. You will spend the night in a camp where elephants often wander in to nibble on the fruits of the Marula trees. Pure nature! (3x B,L,D)
3x Tented Camp am Luangwa
Travel time approx. 8 hours
Today you start your expedition from south to north through the entire Luangwa Valley. Crossing the Lukusuzi and Lundazi rivers on the journey through the Luambe National Park is exciting. Driving slowly and safely with one or two obstacles, you stalk north on a rocky 4WD track and sandy track. The route for the next few days can only be driven with the special 4WD vehicles. An absolute highlight of your nature trip through Zambia is the rarely visited and therefore still very pristine North Luangwa National Park. Located at the foot of the steep Muchinga mountain range, the more than 4,000 km2 The large North Luangwa National Park is home to thousands of wild animals. Herds of buffalo, lions and big cats have their home in this lonely and extremely rarely visited wilderness. On a foot safari with an experienced ranger and in a safari vehicle, you can experience the large and small animals. In your camp, which is located directly on the banks of the Luangwa River, you can hear the hippos grunting in the evening as you fall asleep - pure Africa! You have the opportunity to get to know the friendly residents and their everyday life in the village of Chifunda. (3x B,L,D)

From mid-October, millions of palm fruit bats search for food in mango and berry fruit trees - a spectacular spectacle. At this time, Africa's largest mammal migration can best be observed from the so-called "hides", observation platforms set up in the treetops. (B,L,D)

The steep slopes represent a natural barrier for the animals, so that elephants, buffalo, lions as well as numerous hippos and crocodiles can be found in the floodplains of the river valley.
