Lake Victoria View Guesthouse / Papyrus Guesthouse Entebbe

After a short welcome round, you cycle leisurely through Entebbe, including to the money exchange and through the botanical gardens, which are beautifully situated on Lake Victoria. Around midday, you then board the ferry to the Ssese Islands. The crossing on Africa's largest lake takes around 4 hours. Once you arrive on the island, you cycle 3 kilometers to a beautiful lodge that is right on the beach. (B,L,D)

Brovad Sands Lodge

Today you will explore the island on bicycles. You will cycle on unpaved roads to fishing villages, up to the 'island capital' Kalangala and to the other side of the island, where you will visit a sacred cave. In the afternoon you will have time to relax on the sandy beach or by the pool or to cycle around the area on your own. (B,L,D)

Brovad Sands Lodge

Today you cycle across the island on a hilly, unpaved road to Bugoma at the western end. From here you can see the mainland, to which you will take a ferry. After a small picnic, you board the 4x4 safari bus and drive to Lake Mburo National Park (approx. 4 hours drive). With a bit of luck, you can see the first zebras and impalas on the cycle route to your beautiful lodge for the next two days. (B,L,D)

Rwakobo Rock Lodge

After a hearty breakfast in your lodge, you will explore the national park on a game drive by bike. You will be accompanied by a local ranger. Because of the wild animals such as buffalo, you should cycle together in a small group, and the safari bus will always be in the immediate vicinity. Around midday, you will cycle to the shore of Lake Mburo for a picnic. (B,L,D)

Rwakobo Rock Lodge

After breakfast, you leave Lake Mburo National Park and take a transfer to Rushere. Beautiful bike ride through the hilly, fertile farmland past banana plantations and villages. The journey continues towards western Uganda (approx. 3 hours drive). The lodge for two days is in the tea-growing region of Uganda, 1700 meters above sea level, on the edge of Kibale National Park. Chimpanzee View Guesthouse

In the morning, we take a well-developed, flat circular hiking trail through the Magombe swamp. Black-and-white guerezas, green monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys live here, and they are all amazingly easy to see. In the afternoon, the 3-hour trek to see the chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park is worthwhile. (Optional, subject to availability) (B,L,D)

Chimpanzee View Guesthouse

Cycle tour through the wonderful Kasenga crater landscape to Rwimi, passing numerous lakes through very fertile farmland. You will then travel by safari bus for about an hour to the equator in Queen Elizabeth National Park. After a picnic, a short game drive through the national park to the Mweya Peninsula. Here you will take an impressive boat safari on the animal-rich Kazinga Channel and observe the hippos, crocodiles, pelicans, kingfishers, spoonbills, marabous and yellow-billed storks up close in and on the water. In the late afternoon you will reach your lodge, which is beautifully situated on the Central African Rift Valley, where you will spend the next night. (B,L,D)

Kingfisher Lodge Kichwamba

Cycling route 28 km, 400 hm, piste

You cycle again in a group through the open savannah and, if you're lucky, you can watch elephants, buffalo and waterbucks from your bike! First, you'll head down the Central African Rift Valley on an asphalt road. Then you'll continue on a track along Lake Edward to the southern Ishasha sector of the nature reserve. If it gets too hot at midday, you can switch to the safari bus at any time. You'll reach your lodge, which is beautifully situated by a waterhole. Sometimes elephants or antelopes can be seen here at dusk. Depending on your arrival, there's also the option of a game drive through the Ishasha sector - known for 'tree lions'. These often rest on the sprawling branches of the fig trees and, if you're lucky, you'll be able to watch them. (B,L,D)

Enjojo Lodge

Cycling route up to 81 km, 310 hm, tarmac/track

Early in the morning, you will head out into the wilderness in search of the local wildlife - including elephants, buffalo, hyenas, leopards and antelopes. Of course, you will also be on the lookout for tree lions. To do this, you will primarily search the fig trees of the 'southern circuit'. After lunch at the lodge, you will cycle along a slightly hilly track through fertile farm and bushland to the Ishasha River. Your lodge for the next two days is located at an altitude of over 2300 m on a hill with a beautiful view over the mountain rainforest of the Bwindi National Park to the Virunga volcanoes. (B,L,D)

Gorilla Mist Camp

Cycling route 40 km, 450 hm, piste

Today you will go with a ranger into the almost impenetrable mountain rainforest to 'visit' a habituated gorilla family (optional, subject to availability). The hike can be strenuous due to the terrain and take the whole day. However, you will usually be back in the early afternoon. The moment when you manage to sit opposite the mountain gorillas will certainly be an unforgettable experience and the highlight of any visit to Uganda. The stay with the gorillas must be limited to exactly 1 hour in order to keep the disruption to their natural rhythm of life as low as possible. (B,L,D)

Gorilla Mist Camp

After the exciting experiences of the previous day, you will cycle through the mountain rainforest today. From your lodge, you will cycle on a hilly track through the jungle. You will look out for monkeys and birds, but forest duikers will also appear now and again. You will leave the national park and cycle through the varied mountain landscape, mostly downhill. Back on asphalt, you will go through a fertile high valley to the lively town of Kabale. Cyclists dominate here. After lunch, you can make the steep climb to your lodge by bike or by bus. The fantastic view of Lake Bunyonyi, which is almost 2000 m high, will reward you for your effort. (B,L)
