After a stopover in Johannesburg, you will land at Kruger Park International Airport (MQP), where your guide will meet you. One-hour transfer to Hippo Hollow Estate.

Hippo Hollow Country Estate 3*

As the animals are most active in the morning, after a small snack, you will head out in an open-top safari vehicle into one of Africa's most famous national parks. The park, half the size of Switzerland, is home to a very large number of mammals, birds, and insects due to its diverse landscapes. You can encounter lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, rhinos, giraffes, buffalo, antelopes, and with more luck, cheetahs, leopards, and the rare wild dogs. Breakfast and lunch will be served en route. You will return late in the afternoon and can relax by the pool. (B)

Hippo Hollow Country Estate 3*

We take the bus to the small town of Graskop. Past the Pinnacle, a free-standing rock column, we go to the Gods Window viewpoint. From here you have the first impressive view of the lowlands. A long descent leads to the Lisbon Waterfalls, which plunge 50 m into the depths. We continue along the Blyde River to Bourke's Luck Potholes. Water has created impressive whirlpools here. After a picnic, we take the bus up to 3 Rondavel Blick. Deep below lies the Blyderiverpoort reservoir. The bus takes you back to Hazyview. (B)

Hippo Hollow Country Estate 3*

The bus takes you through the tropical lowlands past banana and avocado plantations to the border of the Kingdom of Eswatini. After entering the country, we change the means of transport and cycle past the local farms, on a quiet track near the Phophonyane Lodge, idyllically located in the jungle, for two nights. (B)

A 15-minute transfer takes you to the next starting point just outside Piggs Peak. The route takes you through the fertile Komati Valley on hilly, panoramic slopes. The vegetation changes and thorn bush savannah accompanies us. After a lunch break, we return to the lodge in the afternoon. An afternoon trip to nearby waterfalls is worthwhile. (B)

Phophonyane Lodge 3*

After the scenic drive through the highlands of the country visit the lively market in the capital city of Mbabane. After lunch you can go on a cycling safari in Mlilwane Game Reserve. Apart from crocodiles and hippos, there are no dangerous animals living in this wildlife sanctuary. Zebras, blesboks, impalas, ostriches, warthogs and eland can be seen from the bike saddle. (B)

During the transfer to the uSutu forest, you will pass the main palace of the king. On a quiet country road you cycle through the rural landscape past numerous kraals to a craft workshop where the beautiful Swazi candles are made to upbeat music. We then cycle through the fertile Ezulwini valley back to the accommodation. (B)

After breakfast we drive back into South Africa. The region is very fertile, so farmland, game reserves and human settlement are found everywhere. In Hluhluwe-iMfolozi National Park, world-famous for its successful conservation program for white and black rhinos, you will find plenty of game. In addition to the Big 5: lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo, you can also find the beautiful lowland nyala, a species of antelope native to this area. There is a bush picnic on the way. Stay in the charming Zulu Nyala Heritage Lodge. (B)

Zulu Nyala Heritage Lodge 4*

In the morning head out in an open safari vehicle to look for more animals. Perhaps the elusive leopard shows himself? Upon exiting the park, we’ll get back on your bikes. On the slightly hilly road we go past Zulu villages to the town of Mtubatuba. Short transfer to the ocean. For the next two nights you will stay in a beautiful 4* guest house in the seaside resort of St. Lucia. The place is located directly at the UNESCO World Heritage Site iSimangaliso Wetland Park. In the morning we do a boat trip on the St. Lucia Lagoon. Crocodiles and hippos live in the brackish water, as well as spotted eagles, goliath herons and many other bird species. We enter the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and drive to Cape Vidal. The beaches are great and offer safe swimming and snorkeling in the warm Indian Ocean. (B)

Ndiza Lodge 4*

The journey continues south. You'll cycle through the hilly Zululand. Life plays out on the streets in this former homeland, and cyclists are an attraction! Encouraging shouts from schoolchildren and appreciative whistles are part of the experience. You'll pass many kraals. Cattle and goat farming, as well as maize cultivation, play a significant role. Shortly afterwards, you'll reach the sea and the sophisticated seaside resort of Ballito. Overnight stay at the charming Petite Provence guesthouse. (B)

A 3.5-hour transfer takes you to Winterton. You cycle along the foothills of the uKhalambra Drakensberge (3000 m), which is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage, through fertile farmland and past numerous Zulu Kraals. Overnight accommodation for 2 consecutive nights will be at Cathedral Peak Hotel 4*. (B,D)
