The long climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro is 1295 meters in altitude, the descent to the Horombo Hut is 2295 m. Compared to the efforts of the previous days, this is a huge increase. On a cloudy night you will need headlamps, but in moonlight you can easily do the route without lamps. You reach the crater rim at dawn or in the morning sun. Africa is at your feet. You continue to the actual highest point, Uhuru Peak on the opposite crater rim, which you reach after another hour of \"moon walking\". After a half or full hour on the highest peak on the continent, you descend over an ash slope, and if you still have enough energy, you can \"ski off\".
