Malawi \u2013 the warm heart of Africa. This versatile but relatively unknown country lies in the East African Rift Valley. In its center middle lies Lake Malawi, the ninth largest lake on earth. With a depth of up to 700 m, it is home to a variety of fish, especially cichlids can be found while snorkeling on the rocky shores. The country has little motorized vehicles, so it is a paradise for cycling. A medium level of fitness is perfectly adequate for the trip. The ratio of gravel to asphalt road is 50\/50. Since the travel date is during the dry season, the gravel roads are hard and easy to cycle on. The back-up vehicle is always close by and thus enables shorter distances. The temperatures are warm to hot. In the highlands it is 23-28 \u00b0C, at the lake and in the south of the country 28-33 \u00b0C.<\/em><\/p>\n

You will be met by your guide at Lilongwe International Airport. 30-minute transfer to Lilongwe Africa House 3*, your home for two nights. The ascent is initially moderate but continuous. This is how you approach the beautiful, over 600 metre high, steeply rising Zomba Plateau. In the rainy season you can see many waterfalls, now in the constant sunshine only the green gorges remain. You reach Zomba, the former capital of Malawi, which is still architecturally characterised by the British colonial era. If you like it sporty, you can cycle up 600 metres in altitude over the next 11 kilometres. Here you will often be met by bicycles laden with wooden clutches.
