In the afternoon you will arrive in George, where you will be greeted by your tour guide. You will be taken by vehicle to the seaside resort of Plettenberg Bay, which is located on the Garden Route. You will stay in the charming Corner Way Guesthouse 4* for 4 nights. From here you can reach the mostly deserted beach of Plettenberg Bay in just 5 minutes on foot. If you are already in Cape Town, we can also take you to George in our support vehicle early in the morning free of charge.

The Robberg Peninsula is a 10-minute transfer away. This area was inhabited by people 120,000 years ago. The ongoing research work can be admired by visiting Nelson Cave. A circular path leads clockwise across the rocky peninsula, which is often covered with succulents. Sturdy shoes and a certain amount of sure-footedness are required. At the southernmost tip of the peninsula you can watch the Cape eared seals hunting and, depending on the season, the seagulls breeding. (F)

Today you will experience the tranquility and diverse bird life of the Bitou River on a two-hour canoe trip from the water. The afternoon is free. If you fancy another excursion, you can go with the tour guide to the World of Birds, 20 km away. Here, one of the world's largest free-flight areas in a rainforest has been created under huge nets. At the feeding stations, you can easily observe the Knysna Loerie - a native species of parrot. (Entrance fee not included) (F)

After a one-hour drive, you will reach the Tsitsikamma National Park near Stormsriver. On a two-hour canoe trip that takes you deep into the estuary to a cave, you can see bats. You will then cycle along the quiet old Cape Road, first on the coastal plateau and later through the jungle of the Bloukrans Valley to the beautifully situated town of Natures Valley. The picturesque beach invites you to take a short exploratory hike or a swim in the Indian Ocean. (F)

After breakfast, you leave Plettenberg Bay and drive to nearby Knysna, where a boat trip on the lagoon is scheduled. You go ashore at the Featherbed Nature Reserve and on a circular walk you might see the shy duiker, one of the smallest antelopes in Africa. Then visit the town center and the waterfront of Knysna. You drive through the Lake District, which is part of the Garden Route National Park, to the Ebb and Flow Camp, which is located directly on the Touws River. You explore the rainforest on foot and can observe giant kingfishers and African fish eagles on the way to a waterfall where you can swim. Accommodation is in rustic, clean 2* wooden houses. (B)

In the morning, you will take a final canoe trip on the Touws River. This is a great way to observe many of the 280 bird species, so you should bring your binoculars. Transfer over the Outeniqua Mountains, which also mark the border with the Karoo Steppe behind them. You will then cycle on a good track through Paardepoort past ostrich farms to Oudtshoorn. You will spend the night in the charming Adley Guesthouse 4*, which is a listed building. In the evening, our host invites you to a barbecue, and of course a tender ostrich steak is a must. (B,D)

You cycle through the Schoemanspoort Gorge to the Kango Caves. On a one-hour guided tour, you will be shown the astonishingly large halls and fascinating formations. You will then cycle to an ostrich farm. On a guided tour, you will learn more about these large flightless birds. The afternoon is free. A city tour or simply relaxing at one of the two pools is recommended. (B)

Bus distance 15 km, duration 0.25 h

Transfer (1 hour) to the Botlierskop Nature Reserve. You will go wildlife watching in an open safari vehicle. Giraffes, white rhinos, elephants, lions, zebras and many antelope species can be seen here. After a lunch break, you will go on a foot hunt with a ranger in the afternoon. The fascinating insects and bird species can be better discovered on foot. (B)

Protea Hotel Mossel Bay 4*

The Diaz and Shell Museum is located right next to the hotel. One of the museum's attractions is a replica of a caravel that was built for the 500th anniversary of Bartholomew Diaz's landing and then sailed to Mossel Bay in 1988. Those who prefer to relax can go swimming on the safe beach. A short transfer takes you to Albertinia (1 hour). You can cycle along a varied track to Riversdale. You will stay in the stylish rooms of the De Doornkraal Vinotel 4*. In the evening you can dine in the garden restaurant of the accommodation. (B)

After a one-hour transfer you will reach the very beautiful Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve. On the Grysbok circular trail you will hike through the dense jungle and the fynbos-covered clearings in the Boosmansbos Wilderness Area. This area is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Capensis. After a short transfer you will reach the charming Gaikou Lodge in Swellendam, the

You start your bike ride directly from the guesthouse, first on a hilly track, then on a quiet asphalt road to the Weltevrede winery. You can sample the farm's own wine with a cheese platter before cycling further along the Breede river to the Springfield winery.   Mineral-rich soil and old traditional cultivation methods make the winery an insider tip. If you want, you can cycle the last few kilometers to the comfortable Gubas de Hoek guesthouse 4*. Here the hosts cook fresh and healthy dishes with organic ingredients. (F)

A two-hour transfer takes you to Stellenbosch. The town is known for its location, the good wines and the numerous listed buildings and has its own charm. After an interesting city tour, a bike tour takes you to the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. The flowering proteas are particularly beautiful and give the reserve world heritage status. Then transfer to Simonstown, which is located on the Cape Peninsula. Overnight stay for two nights in the A Boat House guesthouse 4*, all of whose rooms have an impressive sea view. (B)

After breakfast, visit the penguin colony. Then transfer to the Cape of Good Hope. A scenic footpath leads from here to Cape Point (1 hour). Cycle to the Olifantsbos in the reserve. On the beautiful Sirkelsvlei circular trail (walking time 3 hours) you can see animal species such as bontebok, eland and Cape zebra. You can also observe oystercatchers and giant tortoises, as well as the remains of a ship that ran aground on the rocks 100 years ago. If you feel like it, you can cycle back to the guesthouse on the panoramic road with a tailwind. (B)

In the morning you will visit the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. 8% or 18,000 of all plants found in the world can be found in South Africa and an impressive selection grows on the east side of the valley mountain in this garden. From Kirstenbosch you will hike through the shady Skeleton Gorge to the Table Mountain massif. After you reach the highest point of Table Mountain, Maclears Beacon (1067m), the path leads directly along the spectacular edge to the Table Mountain railway. The city center and the harbor are literally at your feet. After the descent with the cable car, a short transfer will take you to the Bantry Bay Suite Hotel 4*. The Gold Restaurant offers a selection of dishes from the African continent as a great end to this trip. (B)
